There’s this urban legend that says we only need mattresses that are 500 and below. The truth is, that isn’t true. I hope this article helps with anyone that’s being cheap instead of resourceful. No shots taken…unintentionally. This information may trigger you, but that means we’re getting somewhere.
Many people believe all you need to have a great mattress is a foundation, and you’re good to go with your sleep when in fact, you just guaranteed yourself some serious pain that you never had before.
Investments are usually made to buy the newest iPhone or Jordans instead of something far greater in importance. But, of course, it would help if you had a good sleep. Unfortunately, your Amazon bed isn’t going to hold up long term.
I am a product of that same mentality. I, too, have suffered from thinking all I need is a cheap bed with some memory foam, and I’m good. So I decided to get myself a Tuft and Needle that was straight memory foam for 400 dollars.
Don’t get me wrong, Tuft and Needle is a good company, but I chose the wrong bed. I’m a side and stomach sleeper, so it’s exactly the mattress I shouldn’t have got. It’s too soft for my sleep positions, and on top of that, I have a big ol’pillow.
Now that I realize why my back is stiff, and my neck cracks like a person biting into a cracker, I figured it’s time for me to look for a new bed. So here’s what you should do if you finally realize your bed is not it.
- If you have certain body pains like back stiffness or neck pain, look for an adjustable base. It also can lift the legs, which bring circulation throughout your body. What this does is lift your head to where you can breathe easy, avoid acid reflux, and if you snore like a grizzly bear, it will eliminate the noise. Your wife will thank me.
- Since we are naturally warm creatures, you are going to need a bed with a cooling feature. This takes away your sweat and gives you sweet dreams at night, as well as not waking up hot. Many people suffer from sweating through the night, and this will 100% help you out. The Tempur-Pedic Luxe Breeze is top of the line in terms of this.
- If you have a partner, you are looking for support that will make you forget someone is even on the bed. This can be done with a feature called Motion Separation. For example, you can put a glass of wine on the opposite side, and not a drop will spill.
- Lastly, you will need a bed with memory foam and gel for the best experience. This conforms your body and sculpts it out so you will be tailor-made for your mattress.
If you do all these things with more research (sleep.com), you will look at your current bed like it said something about your mama.
