The world of gamers is as diverse as it comes. Many teens and young adults battle it out on the virtual stage know as video games. But there is proof that it doesn’t matter what age you are. All walks of life are able to play games even when you’re at the tender age of 90.

Born in Japan on February 18th 1930, Hamako Mori started playing video games. Not at a day old but some years after that. When she was old enough to hold conversation. She has been playing video games for about 40 years and has not slowed down since.

Mori has expanded her love for gaming by uploading her content on YouTube with the channel named Gaming Grandma. She now has over 250,000 subscribers. With everyone of her loyal fans waiting on her next video with baited breath, she plays. Her favorite games to play are Call Of Duty and Resident Evil. Guinness Book Of Records recognized her as the oldest gamer in the world. And she doesn’t look to slow down anytime soon.

She began her playing journey with Cassette Vision and has been in the game ever since. She has retained all of her games since then and she is a devout fan of the PlayStation 4.

In her words to describe her love for video games Mori says:

It looked so much fun, and I thought it’s not fair if only children played it. I thought life would be more fun if I knew how to play it. So I started playing, at first while no one was watching. I treasure them because it brings me memories.”

Hamako’s new favorite game is Grand Theft Auto V because she says it feels like real life and also jokingly because there are age restrictions so there are no little kids on that platform.

Its safe to say she is the OG of the gaming community with much respect around the world. I believe its safe to say that she is showing alot of our parents that it isn’t just a game, its a lifestyle. It’s a community that bands together. Young or old.
